The Jerusalem Archaeological Park

The Jerusalem Archaeological Park reveals the most amazing discoveries of Jerusalem during the Second Temple period.
At the feet of the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount, at the Yitzhak Ben Youssef Levi Garden the area known as the Ophel, the visitor can climb up the original steps of the Hulda Gates that lead to the Temple Mount. This area, just south of the Temple Mount, is checkered with dozens of ritual purification baths that stood at the disposal of those entering the Temple Mount. At the southern edge of the Western Wall, on the Herodian Street, next to the stores, huge stones, fallen remains from the Western Wall can be seen, a remembrance of the destruction. An arch once reaching over the street; the remains of a marvelous staircase that once carried hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from the city up to the Temple, one could say the worlds oldest interchange. These remains are called Robinsons Arch, named for the famous explorer of the land of Israel Edward Robinson who first identified it in 1852.
